Walking 300 Miles for Life & Love

Published by Misc. News Categories: Dog Rescues, General Dog News

By Ann McLaughlin
Hello my name is Ann McLaughlin and on April 19, 2009 my rescue dog, Diego and I will be walking some 300 miles to benefit Noah’s Ark, a home for abandoned and abused children and animals (see their site for donation info www.noahs-ark.org). I will be leaving from my hometown of Mooresville, NC and walking along state roads to Locust Grove, GA the home of Noah’s Ark.

My goal is to walk some 20-30 miles a day and Diego will walk as far as he is comfortable each day!  A co-worker and friend  kindly donated her RV, so Diego will ride when he is tired or hot. My wonderful if not slightly insane brother, Curt and sister Mari will be driving the RV over the two week period it will take me to get there. Friends and family will also be joining me along the way.

As far back as I can remember I have adored animals, collecting more strays then my poor mother could handle.  My first love, after my three beautiful children of course, are my seven dogs (six of which are rescues). Jama, the woman who founded Noah’s Ark has that same love for children and animals yet has taken that to a much higher level.  What she and her family have done for these children and animals is truly a miracle. To help them in this way is truly my honor!

My true inspirations are the people I have meet over the last two months at Noah’s Ark and all those that have been a part of putting this benefit walk together. Their amazing generosity touches my heart. Thank you so much to Tony Stewart, Thorlo and Pearl Izumi, my current sponsors to date. I have been blessed to have these wonderful sponsors offer to help me make my quest a reality. My reward in all this is the journey and just meeting and finding the true beauty in my fellow men and women!!!!

Hope to see you along the way!

Ann
